Akwa Ibom State governor, Chief Godswill Akpabio, has condoled the leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) and all journalists across the country over the death of three of their national officers last Friday, urging them to take heart and soldier on in the task of building the nation.
In a statement by his commissioner for Information and Communications, Mr Aniekan Umanah, the governor prayed that “God will grant repose to the souls of the departed triumvirate in the journalism sector, Pastor Tunde Oluwanike of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Ibadan; Adolphus Okonkwo of the Voice of Nigeria and Kafayat Odunsi of the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA).”
Akpabio, who described the accident which claimed the lives of the journalists as sad and unfortunate, prayed that God give the family of the departed the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss and pray for the quick recovery of the survivors in the accident.
The governor further urged journalists to take heart and remain dedicated to the task of building the nation through their pens, noting that the sad development should not discourage them in the discharge of their sacred duties.
