Repair work in progress on Obosi-Nkpor federal bypass
By CHIEDU UCHE OKOYE/CHIOMA OKEKE
The President General of the Obosi Development Union (ODU), Barr. Chimezie Obi, has expressed his thankfulness and appreciation to Gov. Soludo for the commencement of repair work on the Obosi-Nkpor federal bypass.
Massive repair work has started on the road, which is deteriorating owing to regular heavy traffic flow on it.
The commencement of repair work on the road followed the appeal made by Barr. Chimezie Obi to the Anambra State Government via Anambra State Ministry of Works for the rehabilitation of the road.
?There is urgent need for the repair of the Obosi-Nkpor federal bypass owing to its importance to the carrying out ofcommercial activities by people,
?And as Christmas is getting nearer, the volume of traffic on it will increase, which will result in traffic congestion if the road is not repaired, ? Obi said.
The link road, whichh traverses the town ofObosi, is a detour for inter-state bus drivers and lorry drivers, who want to skirt the Onitsha-Owerri road so as to avoid being trapped for long hours in vehicular traffic.
It Is noticed that the surfaces of some stretches of the road are washed off by rain water while other areas are pockmarked by pot-holes.
The deteriorating state of the road hinders smooth vehicular movement, which can cause road accidents that will lead to traffic snarl.
And as the 2024 Christmas period is nearing, the urgency and imperative for the repair of the road cannotbe disputed.
So thankfully, now, the Anambra state ministry of works? prompt response to the cries and appeal made by the ODU President General, Barr. Chimezie Obi, have led to the commencement of repair works on the thoroughfare.
The Obosi-Nkpor federal bypass is a beehive of activity, now.
