Lagos issues N1bn bond to retirees

The Lagos State Government has issued Retirement Benefit Bond Certificates of over one billion Naira to 275 retirees.

In a statement from the State Pension Commission, the retirees were drawn from the mainstream, local government, state universal basic education board, teachers’ establishment as well as pension office and parastatals.

According to the statement, the payments bring the number of retirees paid between August 2015 and May 2016 to a total of 3,344.

The total accrued pension rights paid on behalf of retirees by the state government was put at 14.7 billion naira. (Channels TV)
