Boko Haram strikes again: Kills 35, hits military camp

Boko Haram insurgents have launched daring attacks that left at least 35 persons dead and several others injured in the troubled Nigerian North-East state of Borno, according to a report in PREMIUM TIMES.

The portal quoted spokesman of the Joint Military Task Force (JTF), Lt.-Col. Sagir Musa, as saying that the attacks were in fulfillment of a threat by Boko Haram elements to do so immediately Ramadan ended.

He was quoted as saying that “troops have successfully repelled Boko Haram terrorists attack on Mobile Police Base and Bama town,” adding:

“Terrorists using sophisticated weapons and Improvised Explosive Devices launched attacks at about 6:45am on 4th August, 2013′.

“The encounter led to the death of one policeman and 17 Boko Haram Terrorists; two soldiers were also wounded.”

The JTF spokesman was further quted as saying that two soldiers were killed when Boko Haram staged another attack on the operatives of the Multi-National Joint Task Force (MNJTF). He however disclosed that the soldiers were able to kill1five Boko Haram terrorists during the attack.

The attack, according to Lt.-Col. Musa, took place “about 10am on 4th August, 2013 when some Boko Haram Terrorists armed with sophisticated weapons attacked MNJTF location at Malum Fatori.”

He said normalcy had returned to the two towns.
