Omoni Oboli’s ‘The Uprising: Wives on Strike 3’ premieres in Lagos

It was vibes and fun on Sunday night at the premiere of Omoni Oboli’s movie, “The Uprising: Wives on Strike 3”, which explores love, friendship and betrayal.

The movie premiere was held at EbonyLife Place in Victoria Island, Lagos.

The event attracted renowned Nollywood actors as well as social media influencers in the entertainment industry.

The movie reveals a tale of love, friendship, loss, betrayal and resilience, as a widow’s world is turned upside down when her child gets kidnapped which ensures that she confronts the depths of human despair.

“The Uprising: Wives on Strike 3” is a third part of trilogy with the first movie, “Wives on Strike”, released in 2016 and followed by the sequel, “Wives on Strike: The Revolution”, in 2018.

The movie Is predominantly shot in English with a blend of indigenous Nigerian languages and Pidgin.

Oboli, who also directed the movie said that it teaches a valuable lesson for women and people in the society.

Oboli said, “The Uprising: Wives on Strike 3”, would premiere Oct. 18 across all cinemas nationwide and could be viewed in IMAX format in selected cinemas.

“This movie teaches valuable lessons to its viewers on how to handle certain situations and desperate decisions can have an impact on our daily lives.

“We make valuable choices in our day-to-day activities, so, we must ensure that whatever decision we make, we must be certain that we take the right one because there will be ripple effects.

“The movie is a great watch as there are so many lessons and morals that can be learnt from watching it. So, I encourage moviegoers to watch the movie so as to gain valuable lesson from it,” she said.

According to Oboli, the movie is her first in five years that will be shown in the cinema.

“I have been away from the cinemas for five years as I have been engrossed with other projects but the cinemas have always been my first love and would always be.

“This movie took a lot of energy, time and tears from me but today, I’m crying tears of joy as I’m joyous because it is already laying off going by the reception we are getting and the movie isn’t released yet,” she said.

She extended her gratitude to the fellow cast members and colleagues for showing support for the movie.

Also speaking at the event, Uche Jombo, who also starred in the movie, noted that the movie shows the strength of unity and speaking with one voice.

“The movie shows what we can do as a community when we come together and believe that we can do something.

“It shows what our collective voice can do when we come together as one, and I think Nigerians need this at a time like this.

“It is really important that people watch this movie as there are so many valuable lessons to be learnt from this,” she said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the movie stars Omoni Oboli, Hilda Dokubo, Uche Jumbo, Chioma Akpotha, Ufuoma Mc Dermott, Bukunmi Adeaga-Ilori, Okey Bakassi, May Yul-Edochie, Femi Branch, and Segun Arinze among others. (NAN)
