The Minister of Interior, retired Lt.-Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau, has charged the newly-appointed Comptrollers-General of Immigration and Prisons to ensure professionalism and efficient service delivery in their respective Services.
Dambazau gave the charge on Wednesday in Abuja while decorating the newly- appointed Comptroller- General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Mr Mohammed Babandede, and his Nigerian Prisons Service (NPS) counterpart, Mr Ahmed Ja’afaru.
The minister specifically charged the new NIS boss to expedite action on the delay in the issuance of passports to Nigerians and ensure general professionalism in the service.
He also tasked the new NPS boss on the need to fast track the prison decongestion process while ensuring better training and welfare for prison officials.
Dambazau assured that the Federal Government would continue to work with relevant stakeholders in order to ensure efficient service delivery to all Nigerians in line with the Change Agenda.
The new Immigration boss, Mr Mohammed Babandede, who responded on behalf of both Service Chiefs, assured of their readiness to reposition both services.
“We want to assure you, Honourable Minister, of our commitment to this task, we are aware that this is a government of Change, it is a government committed to fighting corruption and ensuring efficiency.”
He also commended the minister for ensuring a rigorous process in their appointment and promised to uphold the confidence reposed in them in the task of repositioning the NIS and NPS. (NAN)
