Onitsha South LG Chairman-elect, Emeka Joseph Orji

The Transition Chairman of Onitsha South Local Government Area of Anambra State, Chief Emeka Joseph Orji of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), has been declared the winner of the chairmanship position in the Onitsha South local government council election.
Declaring the election results on Sunday morning, the Returning Officer of the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC), Mr. Obinweze Onyeka, stated that Orji scored a total of 84,087 votes, defeating the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Mr. Nnamdi Zereuwa, who polled 16,086 votes.
He said that Orji, “having received the highest number of valid votes cast, is hereby declared the winner of the Onitsha South local government council chairmanship and returned as elected.”
According to the Returning Officer, “The election was peaceful and orderly. With this outcome, Chief Emeka Joseph Orji is now the elected Chairman of Onitsha South local government area.”
Reacting to the declaration, Orji described his victory as a triumph for democracy and the people of Onitsha South.
He said: “My victory at the polls is a victory for democracy and for the people of Onitsha South Local Government Area.”
The new Onitsha South boss reaffirmed his commitment to bringing joy to the residents of the council area, saying: “As we enter a new era in the socioeconomic development of our community. I must express my deep appreciation for the unwavering support you have shown me as the Transition Committee Chairman of our council area.
“To this end, I solemnly promise to elevate Onitsha South local government area. I urge you all to join me on this journey to transform our council area into the most livable, secure, and smart city.
“I must also thank our hardworking governor, Prof. Charles Soludo, for granting me the opportunity to serve the people of Onitsha South local government area.
“Finally, I invite everyone, including my fellow candidates, to join in the mission of sustaining the transformation of our council area because a new dawn is here,” he concluded.
