Fresh fact has emerged about the death of Pastor Mrs Patience Umo Eno, wife of Governor Umo Bassey Eno of Akwa Ibom State. Like a thunderbolt, news of her death was broken very early on Friday morning, September 27, 2024, via a statement by the Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Information, Ini Ememobong.

The commissioner revealed that she died the previous day in the presence of her family.

Though the cause of her death was not disclosed, News Express learnt from a reliable source close to the Akwa Ibom First Family that she had been sick for quite some time but did not allow it to stop her from carrying out her duties.

“She was sick for some months, though she was strong all through the period,” the source confided in News Express.

The late Patience, who is being mourned as an epitome of compassion, clocked 57 in February 2024 and was married for over 37 years. In one of her last assignments, she on September 4 hosted 600 Senior Citizens from the 31 Local Government Areas and non-indigenes to the fifth edition of the ARISE Initiative for the Elderly at the Banquet Hall of Government House Uyo, where they received stipends of N50,000 each and free medical care.

Her last public comment was on September 23, when she posted on her official Facebook Page at exactly 10:26 a.m.: “Happy 37thBirthday to our dear State, Akwa Abasi Ibom State, “one of the fastest developing States in the Nation”, in the words of my dear Husband, your Governor Pastor Umo Bassey Eno.

“Cheers to a future of sustained peace and abiding prosperity. Amen!”
