A tragic incident unfolded on JB’s Street in Igbiki, Udu Local Government Area of Delta State, recently where a young man, simply known as Kelly, lost his life due to a drug overdose.
The Incident, according to neighbours, occurred when Kelly and a friend ingested drugs together, leading to both being hospitalized. While Kelly succumbed to his condition, his friend remains in critical care in an undisclosed hospital.
Neighbors expressed their shock and sorrow over the incident. A young lady popularly known as O.J., a local resident, lamented the dangers of drug use, stating: “These young boys of today don’t listen. They don’t realize the pain they cause their families and loved ones. I hope others will learn from this tragedy.”
Peter Chidi, another neighbor, remembered Kelly as a good neighbor who will be greatly missed. “It’s too shocking for everyone. We wish his family a quick recovery from this grief,” he said.
Martha, a local woman, reflected on the long-standing discussions about drug abuse, emphasizing that despite awareness, many youths continue to seek the high that drugs provide. She expressed hope that the surviving friend would learn from this harrowing experience.
The community is left to grapple with the pain of loss, and many have called for consistent awareness on the dangers of drug abuse, hoping that this tragedy will serve as a wake-up call for local youth. (Delta State News Bulletin)
