A total number of 29 security checkpoints have been mounted on the Onitsha – Enugu Expressway in Nigeria’s South-East. The badly maintained road is only approximately 105 kilometres long and travelers have to encounter a checkpoint after an average of 3.7 kilometres.
News Express reports that South-East residents and travelers have often lamented their ordeal at the checkpoints, where they are not only delayed but also prevented from making or receiving calls, in addition to sometimes being made to disembark and trek some distance before re-boarding their vehicles.
