Chief Emeka Anyaoku, Prof Anthony Kila
The Patriots, a group of eminent Nigerians led by the former Commonwealth Secretary-General, Chief Emeka Anyaoku, yesterday inaugurated a 17-member Advocacy Committee for the actualisation of a new constitution. The committee, which is tasked with engaging key stakeholders and the general public across the country, will be chaired by renowned political economist and Professor of Strategy and Development, Prof Anthony Kila.
Chief Anyaoku, who emphasized the committees crucial role in reaching out to various segments of the country, urged members of the panel to focus on engaging members of the National Assembly.
He urged Nigerians to back the call for a new constitution, which according to him would harmonise Nigerias pluralistic nature.
The members of the committee which was inaugurated in Lagos are: Maj-Gen. Ike Nwachukwu; Obong Victor Attah; Prof. Anya O. Anya; Dr. Bilikisu Magoro; Prof. Remi Sonaiya; Elder Solomon Asemota; Ambassador Tokunbo Awolowo-Dosumu; Senator Ben Obi; Senator Shehu Sanni; panels Executive Secretary, Dr. Bilikisu Magoro; Deacon Chris Iyovwaye; Alhaji ShettimaYerima; Dr. Otive Igbuzor; Mr. Samson Itodo; Madu Bright O; Alwell, Ms. Ann Kio Briggs; Mr. Fafa Dan Princewill; Mr. Zaka Bala; Mr. Kayode Samuel; Affiong L. Affiong and Mr. Salvation Alibor.
Kila expressed gratitude to the Anyaoku-leadership group for the honor and privilege of chairing the committee.
He assured that the committee would work diligently to inform, engage and gather input from diverse members of the public.
He also highlighted plans to interact with the National Assembly, traditional leaders, students, and corporate Nigeria.
