Osun State Government has sealed off a steel mill company located in Ikirun, headquarters of Ifelodun local government area of the state for evasion of tax.

A statement issued by the Information Officer, Osun Internal Revenue Service, OIRS, Oluwaseun Ayeni, disclosed that the exercise is in continuation of the tax enforcement policy of the agency.

The tax enforcement team led by the Executive Chairman, OIRS, Prince Adesola Adewumi gave the order to seal off the company and other business premises due to non-challant attitude to tax payments and harmonized demand notice from Osun Internal Revenue Service.

According to him, PrismSteel Rolling Mill and others has been served harmonized demand notice for quite some time to fulfill their statutory obligations to the coffer of the state government but failed to help themselves.

The refusal to oblige with fulfilling the companies responsibility to the state led to sealing of the business premises, he said.

Adewumi explained further that stipulated deadline have been given to all businesses in the state to pay up their bill, therefore expressed dissatisfaction by their refusal to ensure payments to the coffers of the government despite the grace given by the state governor since the end of July this year.

He therefore implored all businesses in the state to rise up to their responsibilities without given the state government the opportunity of running after them for any of their statutory obligations (Vanguard)
