•Late Popular gospel singer, Aduke Gold
The gospel music industry is mourning the untimely death of the rising star, Aduke Ajayi, known professionally as Aduke Gold.
The news of her passing was shared on Tuesday by fellow gospel artist, Esther Igbekele, who posted a tribute on social media with a picture of Aduke Gold with the caption, “A general has fallen. RIP.â€
Aduke Gold’s death follows the recent loss of another prominent gospel singer, Egbin Orun, who died on April 28, 2024.
Igbekele had also confirmed Orun’s death via an Instagram post.
Igbekele wrote, “Despite the competitive nature of the gospel music industry, Aduke Gold made a significant impact with her soul-lifting songs and unwavering dedication to her craft.
“Her talent and passion earned her a growing fanbase and increasing popularity, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by many.â€
According to a source who is close to the deceased, Aduke Gold was ill for two months.
The source added that the gospel singer died on Monday, August 12 at the University College Hospital, Ibadan.
The cause of her death remained unclear as at time of filing this report.
The Ilesha-born singer was initially known as Aduke Penkele.
She grew up in Ogba and Badagry areas of Lagos and was from a polygamous home.
She was the 11th child of her late parents.
Aduke Gold came to stardom with her live performance at the first remembrance of the late gospel artiste, Baba Ara.
Professionally, she started music in 2004.
One of her famous track “Nitori Ogo†which she released in 2021 also brought her into limelight.
Apart from music, she was a child educator with a passion for teaching young children.
Aduke was a graduate of history and international relations from Lagos State University.
