Plateau to establish traffic management agency

The Plateau government on Wednesday said that it would establish a Traffic Management Agency to manage traffic and generate revenue for the state.

The Commissioner for Information and Communication, Mallam Nazif Muhammad, made the disclosure while briefing newsmen after the State Executive Council meeting in Jos.

Muhammad said that the council during the meeting, which was presided over by the Gov. Simon Lalong, approved a draft bill for the establishment of the agency.

The commissioner said the bill, which was approved alongside two other bills, would be submitted to the State House of Assembly for consideration and passage.

Mr Jonathan Mawiyau, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, said that the law when passed would specify which vehicles should ply a certain category of road.

He the council also approved the engagement of seven consulting firms to conduct forensic investigation of the previous administration's financial transactions. (NAN)
