Group lauds Lagos Assembly for allowing security agency bill

The Citizen Anti-Corruption Volunteer Corps has praised the legislators in the Lagos State House of Assembly for their latest initiative on securing the life and property of Lagosians, which is the proposed establishment of the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Agency.

The group in a released statement signed by its Chairman, Comr Eze Harris Chuma, noted that the primary duty of a responsible and responsive Government is the protection of life and properties.

“Any government,” it said, “that does not care about the security of its own citizens cannot succeed in galvanizing support from the people who entrusted power and have exclusive reserve. In sane climes, the security of citizens conspicuously occupies top position on the list of priorities of governments who are objectively concerned with creating and sustaining an enabling environment for unhindered economic growth and development.

“Such administration enjoys massive amounts of support and love from the citizens who would willingly mobilise to ensure the best of governance is served.”

Comr Chuma, also, pointed out that, “It has become crystal clear that the current crop of legislators in the Lagos State House of Assembly is poised to redefining the face of governance in Nigeria.

“The amount of energy that is being dissipated to better the lots of people of the state is quite unprecedented. Tracking the performance of the House since a year after the inauguration one would not but without any doubt appreciate the creative ingenuity of the dutiful legislators.” According to him, the recent move by the vibrant House to establish a Neighbourhood Safety Agency attracts nothing but ovation. No discerning citizen of the state would see a good thing and refuse to acknowledge it.This bill will in no doubt enhance the effort of existing Security agencies, boost community policing and ensure maximum security of citizens and properties in and around the state. It is a welcome ‘change,’ and demands massive support by all and sundry.”

The group finally call on the good people of Lagos State to embrace and support this historical venture and thanked the Speaker of Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Mudashiru Obasa. for sponsoring this great bill.
