Seeks Tinubu, Makindes help against powerful Nigerians
An 80-year-old woman, Mrs. Tinuke Okesanu, a retired civil servant, has appealed to President Bola Tinubu and Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, to intervene in a land dispute involving her and some notable Nigerians.
Mrs. Okesanu who was accompanied by her lawyer and sons on Saturday took journalists to the said land located along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Odo-Ona Kekere, beside Sat Guru Maharaj Village fingered some allies of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, as accomplices in the matter.
Mrs. Okesanu alleged that the Inspector-General of Police, through a department in the Oyo State Police Command is conspiring with some land grabbers to forcefully take her land from her.
Mrs. Okesanu presented all the necessary documents, including the deed of conveyance, which showed that she has been in possession of the land since 2017 to journalists on the site.
Despite her efforts to resolve the issue through legal means, Mrs. Okesanu claims that the Surveyor Generals office and the police have frustrated her attempts.
While speaking with journalists Mrs Okesanu said: I have reported this case to Oyo State Police Command and office of the Surveyor General, I always go there with my valid documents but lately the Surveyor General told me that my documents are not genuine, he told me that my deed of conveyance has expired, I suspect him, he has started compromising the case, I want the state governor, Engr Seyi Makinde and President Bola Tinubu to investigate this case.
I bought this land with my hard-earned money, I cant allow them to take it from me, its my property, they have turned my land to illegal police post where some mobile policemen who are supposed to be in town seÂcuring Nigerians are resuming for duties on daily basis, this is the land I bought with genuine documents, the same people have approached me to sell the land for them but I refused, now theyre using their power but I know God will not allow them to take my property from me, Okesanu alleged.
Mrs. Okesanu used the mediÂum to call on President Tinubu and Governor Makinde to investigate the matter and protect her rights. (Text, excluding headline: Daily Independent)
