After initial denial, star actress and movie producer, Funke Akinde a.k.a Jenifa, this evening confirmed the break-up of her year-old marriage while also asking for prayers from her fans.

A statement issued by her publicists NEECEE Entertainment and signed by the Principal Consultant, Ayo Ola-Muhammed, said: “Dear Friends, On behalf of our client, star actress, Funke Akindele, we want to formally inform you that after due consultation and consideration, she’s now separated from Mr. Kehinde Oloyede as his wife.

“She hereby urges her fans and all concerned to pray and wish her the best as she moves on in her career. Kindly note that this is the first and only official statement from Funke Akindele on the matter and will be glad if her wish is respected.”

News Express had reported on the crash of Funke Akindele’s marriage three days ago after her estranged husband Kehinde Oloyede, a Lagos grassroots politician and businessman whom she married with much fanfare a year ago, wrote on Facebook:

“It’s with heavy heart that am announcing the separation of me and ma wife Mrs Olufunke Akindele.

“We’ve both agreed to go our separate ways coz of irreconcilable differences. We still best of friends and we 4ever remain gud friends.

“Am doing just fine, gettn along without u, don't need u anymore in ma life. U d greatest mistake av made in recent time.”

Funke has already changed her BB Messenger name from Mrs. Funke Akindele to Everybody loves Jenifa.

The break-up has been attributed to infidelity on the part of the polygamous Mr. Oloyede.
