We’ll swim or sink with Saraki —Senators •Suspend amendment of CCT and CCT Act

Senators today resolved to stand with the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, who is undergoing trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) over alleged falsification of his assets, till the end, until he is proven guilty.

The decision was taken at a two hours closed-door session presided by the Deputy Senate President, Chief Ike Ekweremadu, at which the Senators also agreed to suspend the amendment of Code of Conduct Bureau and Code of Conduct Tribunal Act.

The proposed amendment had sparked an uproar across the country, with critics alleging that it was meant to save Saraki’s neck.

News Express learnt that at the closed-door session, an agreement was reached that all the Senators that have cases in court must withdraw such legal cases.

Senator Ekweremadu at the meeting announced the setting up of a 12-man committee, comprising a Senator per geopolitical zone, to resolve all the disagreements in the Senate
