Obiano commissions N6 billion shopping mall in Onitsha

Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, today commissioned the N6 billion shopping mall located in the commercial city of Onitsha.

The opening of the shopping mall, which was started by Obiano’s predecessor, Mr. Peter Obi, drew an unprecedented crowd ranging of the clergy, politicians and businessmen, among others.

While commissioning the mall, Obiano promised to open up a new road from 3-3 area of the city to ease traffic around the mall.

Obiano stressed that the completion of the mall was in fulfillment of his continuity mantra to complete and commission the projects commenced by his predecessor.

He noted that adequate security had been put in place around the mall to ensure safety of visitors to the mall.

“We have provided two operational vehicles to the police for the purpose of policing around the mall,” he said.

Speaking at the occasion, the Managing Director of African Capital Alliance, Osita Okonkwo, said the shopping mall would create no fewer 1,000 jobs in the state which will help to alleviate unemployment in the state. He added that the mall would introduce new lifestyle and fine shopping culture in the area.

“The Chief Willie Obiano administration has lived up to his electoral promise that the projects started by Obi and the ones flagged off by this regime are going to be handled simultaneously despite the economic crunch,” Okonkwo said.
