Breaking News: Traders buried alive as building collapses in Kaduna

A three-storey building has collapsed on Hadejia Road, a busy commercial area of Kaduna, North-West Nigeria.

An eyewitness said the incident occurred around 1pm. Most parts of the building suddenly came down, burying residents and shop owners occupying the ground floor.

News Express learnt that one woman had been confirmed dead while few that were pulled out of the rubble are receiving treatment at Jowako Hospital, Jos Road, close to the scene of the accident.

The ground floor is predominantly occupied by traders of vehicle tyres, mostly of Igbo extraction.
Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero is at the scene of the incident to supervise rescue operations by National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Red Cross and sympathisers who have thronged the scene.
