Chief Alphonsus Udeigbo, the Chairman of Abia State Market Almagamated Traders Association (ASMATA), said that the Aba Integrated Power Project (IPP) will help to improve business in the country.
Udeigbo said this in a press briefing in Aba on Thursday, describing the IPP as a blessing to the country and would soon be enjoyed by traders and residents.
According to him, building of the geometric power plant in Aba is the best that have happened to Nigeria because Aba remains the countrys business circle.
He noted that a section of the geometric was working and some parts of Aba is already enjoying uninterrupted electricity power supply.
When the other sections of the geometric will start working, that means the electricity generation will be enough to serve Aba and beyond.
I am sure that the geometric power plant will serve its purpose and like I said before, beginning of anything good is always tough and difficulty, he said.
He urged the traders who have not started enjoying the electricity from the gemoetric to be patient as there would soon be regular electricity power supply in the city.
Udeigbo appreciated Prof. Barth Nnaji for choosing Aba for the geometric project noting that the project was commissioned at the right time.
The chairman recalled that the problem of electricity power supply started in Nigeria when the Shell company was chased out.
He said, if Shell was not chased out, there would have been uninterrupted power supply by now as they would have improved drastically.
It was when Shell left that the indigenous companies began to scramble for the business which they are not yet ready for, not knowing that they have a lot to do.
Thank God that the Integrated Power Project was inaugurated under Gov. Alex Ottis administration who is ready to go to any length to ensure that the people enjoy the dividend of democracy, he said.
The chairman assured the traders that he would stop at nothing in ensuring that their interest was well represented anywhere.
He also assured that his administration would constitute a working committee to ensure that matters involving traders were treated internally devoid of court.
If ASMATA cannot protect the right of all traders in the states, that means we are not supposed to be in power. (NAN)
