The Managing Director, Peugeot Automobile Nigeria (PAN) Ibrahim Boyi, has appealed to Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasiru El-Rufai, to fulfill his campaign promise to revive the ailing industries in the state.
“By May 29th, the State Government will be one year in office. We are appealing to Mallam Nasiru El-Rufai to fulfill his campaign promise of reviving ailing industries in the state,” he said.
Boyi made the plea on Tuesday while receiving a delegation of the Kaduna State Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) led by its Chairman, Comrade Garba Muhammad.
The PAN MD, who was represented by the Executive Director Finance Mr Jumat Alli-Oluwafuyi, emphasised the importance of the economy in the survival of any nation, saying that manufacturing industries hold the key to the progress and development of all nations, hence the existence of G7 platform for the most industrialised nations of the world.
He noted that journalists have a big role to play in reminding and sensitising government and the public of the need to revive ailing businesses as well as establish new small, medium and big industries in the country.
Boyi said that for a nation to grow, develop and survive, it must consider its economic potentials very serious and evolve proactively to harness them for the good of its citizens.
He appealed to the media to help in promoting and propagating the ideals of PAN as the leading automobile industry in the country.
He promised to replace the PAN vehicle given to Kaduna NUJ Council about a decade ago. “We should either replace or refurbish the vehicle we once donated to you. We are partners in progress,” he said.
Earlier, in his remarks, Comrade Garba Muhammad had informed the PAN management that the visit was meant to rekindle the existing relationship with the leading automobile firm in the country. He said that the council is highly impressed by the way and manner the firm has been keying into the federal government policy on automobile manufacturing over the years.
The Kaduna NUJ Chairman commended PAN for overcoming the hard economic times in the country in the course of the company’s existence since 1972.
Comrade Muhammad thanked the PAN Management for the donation of a durable vehicle to the council which, according to him, has been in use for almost a decade now without breakdown. “It is a practical testimony that PAN products are durable, and made to last with our state of our roads and economy. We are really impressed by the durability of PAN products and indeed testifying to the governments and the public that it pays to use Peugeot vehicle anytime and anywhere,” he said.
Muhammad assured PAN of his council’s support at all times.
