Operation Sambisa: Escaping terrorists meet waterloo

Boko Haram terrorists escaping from the Sambisa Forest stronghold in Borno State met their waterloo early this morning in the hands of brave Nigerian troops, Army Spokesman, Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman, said this afternoon.

He announced in a statement issued in Abuja that troops of 21 Brigade Bama, under 7 Division area of operational responsibility, “in a blocking position” in the early hours of today, “cleared escaping Boko Haram terrorists that came through Sabsawa axis of Sambisa forest.”

“The troops also recovered a Toyota Hilux, 2 AK-47 rifles with registration numbers 58006915 and KO 35839, as well as 37 rounds of 12.7mm metal linked ammunition,” Col. Usman said.

He regretted that “unfortunately, one officer sustained injury during the encounter” but quickly added that “he is however in a stable condition.”
