Construction of the eight-kilometre Amuda community road in Umunneochi Local Government Area and the Lohum-Nkpa road in Bende Local Government Area of Abia State has commenced.
Flagging off the construction of the Amuda community road yesterday, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu said that the project would gulp N8OO million, with the State Government providing N500 million and Mainland Oil and Gas Ltd paying N300m.
The Governor thanked the Chief Executive Officer of Mainland Oil and Gas for assisting the State Government and assured that government would do a quality job on the road.
He assured that he was committed to using the resources at his disposal to work for the people and called for the support and prayers of the people of the state for his government.
While also flagging off construction work on the Lohum-Nkpa road, Ikpeazu regretted that the road has been neglected for long, adding that his vision was to ensure that every part of the state had a feel of government.
He assured that the road project would not be abandoned.
The Governor called on Abians to vote for PDP candidates in Saturday’s re-run elections.
Earlier in his speech, the Chief Executive Officer of Mainland Oil and Gas, Prince Odinaka Igwe, thanked the Governor for remembering Amuda people, whom he said had been marginalised over the years, and pledged their support for his government.
