The Brand Journalists Association of Nigeria (BJAN) has concluded plans to confer the honour of Grand Patron on the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, “in recognition of his immense contributions to the growth of communication and integrated marketing communication industry in Nigeria.”

A statement issued in Lagos by BJAN Chairman, Mr. Goddie Ofose, said that the association will also honour as Patrons and Matrons, some eminent individuals who have equally contributed their quota to the development of the industry over the years.

Those announced to be honoured at the fourth BJAN World Consumer Rights Day symposium in Lagos on March 15, 2016 include: Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Steve Ayorinde; Group Managing Director of Insight Communications, Mr. Jimi Awosika; and Group Managing Director of SO&U Limited/former Chairman of the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON), Mr. Udeme Ufot.

Others are incumbent Registrar of APCON, Alhaji Garba Bello Kankarofi; Managing Director of 141 Worldwide, Mrs. Bunmi Oke; and Managing Director of Executive Options Limited/Publisher of Billboard World Magazine, Mrs. Maureen Umanah.

Mr. Ofose said it is important to single out those personalities who have contributed to the growth of Integrated Marketing Communication industry in Nigeria and honour them.

“Over the years, the Association has observed their contributions to the development of the industry and we feel there is need to tap from their knowledge and also benefit through their support,” he added.

“As our Grand Patron, Patron and Matron we can always seek for counsel as well as tap into their integrity and credibility which can further boost the morale of our members,” he added.

BJAN is an umbrella body of journalists that report Brands, Marketing, Advertising and Public Relations matters in the country, registered under the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).
