Key into Okorocha administration’s vision, Imo urges Enugu Chamber of Commerce

The Imo State Government has enjoined the leadership of the Enugu Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (ECCIMA) to key into the vision of the present administration’s job job, factory, factory and industry, industry mantra, to help foster the revenue generation of the state in particular and South East in general.

Secretary to the Government of Imo State (SGI), Sir Jude Ejiogu, made this plea on Thursday while receiving on behalf of the State Government a delegation of the Council of ECCIMA at the Ndubuisi Kanu Exco Hall, Government House, Owerri.

Sir Ejiogu expressed joy on their dedication in making the Chamber more productive, resourceful and credible than in the past, urging them to continue to contribute their quota in ensuring a rapid growth of the nation’s economy.

He reminded them that the state, “through the prudent manager of her resources, Governor Rochas Okorocha, has improved the living standard of the citizenry by setting aside over N10m for each ward in the state in line with the industrialisation policy in every community with a view to making agriculture, commerce and industry worthwhile.”

The SGI pointed out that the idea would give boost to the stability of the state economy while creating employment opportunities for the teeming youths in the state and beyond, appealing to everyone to join the Governor in his efforts to make Imo State a better place to invest.

Sir Ejiogu therefore maintained that Imo remains the only state in the federation that has worked in tandem with the modern agricultural shift and challenged other states to follow suit to avoid concentrating on crude oil alone.

Speaking, Chairman of ECCIMA and leader of the delegation, Pharm. Emeka Udeze, applauded the efforts of the present leadership in the state in establishing relevant channels for empowerment and infrastructural development as well as agricultural emancipation, saying that the state’s achievements cannot be compared with others.

He harped on youth’s development through a robust agricultural improvement, stressing on the need for all hands to be on deck to continue to make the state economy appreciable in the national economic map.

Udeze revealed that the chamber is building research centres all over the federation where people will go to source information regarding the latest agricultural materials with no cost, saying that the idea would go a long way in boosting the morale of the youths who would like to venture into agriculture, since the state remains one of the most viable agriculturally based in the country.

He appealed to Governor Okorocha to grace the forthcoming Enugu International Trade Fare to enable him commission some mouth watering projects since he is known as a man of industrialisation.

Those in attendance included Commissioners of Agriculture, Environment and Natural Resources, Hon Udo Agoha, Education, Mrs. Getrude Oduka, Public Utilities and Public Safety, Hon. Rodney Ajaelu, Lands, Survey, Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Law Eburuo, Advisers on Health, Dr Edward Ihejirika, Project Monitoring, Hon Simeon Iwunze and Economic Adviser, Hon. Iyke Njoku, among others.
