The Anambra State House of Assembly has passed a supplementary budget ofN25 billion for the 2013 fiscal year even as it celebrated the end of the secondsession of the fifth assembly of the state legislature.
The budget outline shows a recurrent expenditure of N1 billion while the capital expenditure stands at N24,050,027,000.
Other subsidiaries included in the budget are procurement of special purpose vehicles (N900,000,000), Anambra State Waste ManagementAgency (N840,000,000), and erosion control programmes/projects (N1,700,000,000).
Also in the budget are the rehabilitation of selected major and minor roads (N19,000,000,000), construction of quarters for Judges, Magistrates and others (N100,027,000), and Nnewi special project (N500,000,000), among others .
While reviewing the performance of the House over the years, Speaker of the House, Mrs. Chinwe Nwaebili, said the House passed 10 bills out of the 20 introduced within the period.
She said that five of the bills have been signed into law by Governor Peter Obi.
The bills passed include the Anambra State Indigent Senior Citizens Relief Bill, Anambra State Waste ManagementAuthority (amendment bill), and Prohibition of Fraudulent Practices on Land Bill 2012.
Nwebili added that the legislators were able toachieve capacity training both within and outside the country for effective productivity within the period.
On her part, Princess Nikky Ugochukwu, who is the Chairman of the Appropriation Committee, said the swift passage of the supplementary budget was a pointer to the cordial relationship between the legislature and the executive.
