The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMET) has made the following predictions about Nigeria’s weather condition for today, Saturday, January 23, 2016:

NORTHERN STATES: Dust haze conditions are anticipated in good visibility. Night time temperatures are expected to be in the range of 10-13oC.

CENTRAL STATES: Places like Abuja, Bida and Nassarawa are also expected to be under the influence of dust haze in visibility values of 3000m or less. Night time temperatures are expected to be in the range of 15-17oC.

SOUTHERN STATES: Early morning prospects of fog/ mist patches are likely in Lagos, Port Harcourt, Eket and Calabar. Oshogbo, Abeokuta and Ibadan should expect cloudy morning with very low prospect of light showers. Hazy conditions are anticipated over the rest of the south. In the afternoon, Yenagoa, Port Harcourt and Calabar may experience some light showers. Night time temperatures are expected to be in the range of 19-23oC.

NOTE: During this period of the year, the atmosphere is usually very dry, windy and dusty. Citizens should avoid substances that may ignite easily to reduce incidences of fire outbreaks.
