To me sex is food — Nollyhood actress Nora Adibe

•Pretty Nollywood actress Norah Adibe

Pretty Nollyhood actress, Nora Adibe, is a silent operator naturally. Fellow actresses and Nollywoodians too, know. She recently showed her other stunning side which touched on Adibe’s entrance into Nollywood, her challenges as an actress, relationship with others in Nollywood, regrets, and strong stance on marriage and sex, insisting that women should complement delicacies with sex. All these she tabled before our Contributing Editor, IFECHI OKOH in a no-holds-barred interview. Happy reading!

Can we have peep at your background?

My name is Nora Adibe, formally known as Nora Igbokwe. I am a Nollywood actress who has contributed her quota in the make-believe concern. I am from Imerienwe in Ngor-Okpala Local Government Area of Imo State. I actually started my acting career from my primary school days. Acting used to be my hobby then, but now my profession

I remember that two of my teachers called me and advised after my excellent outing in two stage plays that I should stick to acting as my career in future. That was how I became interested in what I am doing now. In the secondary school, I made further input. I remember one of the grand stage plays which I took part in, titled “Egondu”. With my brilliant performance, people began to commend me and insisted that I should not look back. Really, that advice engineered me to become what I am today.

How long have you been in Nollywood and what is the experience like?

I have actually been in Nollywood for quite some time now. I have been involved in almost 80 movie productions, among them are soap operas, Igbo movies and English movies.

I remember that I took part in “Adaeze,” “Iheoma” and other Igbo productions.

I also remember that I did the same in many English productions, like “flogs” where I appeared with Clem Ohamaeze and other top stars. After this, I was involved in the movie titled “Sexy Cheaters”. Conservatively, I have featured in over 70 movies, including “Holy Family”.

I want to confess here that without the assistance of three Nollywood stars, starting from Commander C.O.C Nze, to Val Agwulonu and Victor Osuagwu, I would not be where I am today. They have all been my backbone in Nollywood. I remember when Victor Osuagwu was chairman of Lagos State chapter of Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), he appointed me as his Special Assistant. I gave my best and that fetched me a continuation of the position till date, under the leadership of the new chairman.

What are your challenges as a Nollywood actress?

Challenges are abound for me as a Nollywood actress, starting from coming to locations most times with my costumes and other things I need for shooting. It has not been easy because so many persons are hustling for same role. However, I am aware of these challenges, and have ever been ready to continue so as to remain relevant in the industry. Getting roles is challenging but it is highly disappointing that many of us are desperados, who can do anything for a role. Some even give directors as much as N200, 000 to play lead role, while others pay such huge amount and still go to bed with the director.

What is the relationship between you, your fellow actresses and other production personnel?

I am naturally somebody who doesn’t lose her ahead when other are doing so. It is on good record that I have cordial relationship with my colleagues, directors, producers and marketers. That is why I noticed that after each job, the director or producer keep asking for my number so as to call me whenever he has another production.

What are your regrets?

I want to express my regret here concerning the unwarranted manner some persons who have no business with Nollywood, especially acting, have taken over from genuinely interested persons with potentials for the job. These are the spoilers who should be discouraged by the producers, directors and marketers. But disturbingly, it may not work out because of the Nigeria malaise otherwise known as “man know man”.

What’s your definition of Love?

My definition of love is the one from God. My grouse is men’s definition of love, which, to them, is a woman’s opening of her laps. Imagine April 14   Lover’s day! On such date, it’s carnal love expression all over the place. Do you know that it’s on a good record that many young ladies get impregnated on that so-called February 14, Valentine day? This is too brash and scandalizing!

What are your passions and hates for men?

I love tall, neat-looking men. I also trip for men with good dress sense. I hate men with mouth odour and stinky armpits.

However, I am courteous in expressing these publicly because of the level of understanding in our society.

What is the place of sex in marriage?

Oh yes! This is a question I have been waiting for. To me sex is food, it is not all about making children. You must be enthusiastic about it. Women should stop wearing jeans to bed to prevent their husbands from going in. With this, most men are put off as a result. What a gentleman has paid for but can’t enjoy it for unfounded reasons best known to the women. Women should stop this funny practice before the men look for super alternatives as I have just said in unthinkable fashion. This is why there are cases of most husbands sleeping with their house maids. The women should start dressing sexy wherever they return to their homes. They should do all humanly possible to entice their unsuspecting husbands who are bound to fall for their plot.
