Why my dad arrested my fans, promoters — Davido

Afrobeat singer, Davido

Nigerian musician, David Adeleke, aka Davido, has explained why his billionaire father, Adedeji Adeleke, had his show promoters and fans arrested.

Though the incident isn’t recent, Davido in an interview with Mo Gilligan of Channel4 on the Lateish Show said his father was keen on education and business and couldn’t bear his son living without an education.

Davido added that anytime his father heard of an event he was to perform at, he would order the police to storm the event and arrest both the organisers of the show and any fan the police could lay their hands on.

He said, “I come from a family where it’s like, education, education, business, so over time my decision to do music was like a beef.

“Any show he [my dad] heard I’m performing at, he sends the police. He arrests the fans, and promoters. He has a camera watching wherever I go to.”

He, however, admitted that his father’s decision stemmed from his absconding from school during the early days of his music career. (Saturday PUNCH)
