The Makurdi - Lafia federal highway in Benue State was shut to free flow of traffic due to the persistent fuel scarcity throughout the state.
The traffic congestion became worrisome as some security agencies with blaring sirens were seen forcing their way through the already tight federal highway in order to access the NNPC Mega Station on Saturday.
The Management of the NNPC Makurdi Mega station, made frantic efforts to address the traffic congestion by attending to as many motorist as possible.
A motorist, while speaking to Channels Television’s Correspondent, on the fuel crisis, said that he spent about seven hours at the Mega station before buying the product.
The Manager of the NNPC Mega station, Mr Yusuf Suleiman, also spoke on both the challenges of inadequate supply and hoarding by marketers in the state.
A Professor of Agric-Economics, who was also at the fuel station as early as 5.00am, urged the Federal Government to invest in local refineries with the aim of meeting local fuel consumption and employment.
While the NNPC Mega Station is doing its best to meet the demands of motorist in Makurdi metropolis, a lot needs to be done to ensure markets adjust their pump price to 86.50 Naira, and dispense the products always. (Channels TV)
