Celebrated pop-highlifer, Chris Mba, joined his ancestors last Wednesday in Lagos Teaching Hospital (LUTH) after losing the battle to death which arose from complications of heart challenges he had been contending with over the years. His sudden death has since thrown the showbiz community into serious wailing and mourning.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Premier Music, Mike Odiong ,announced his death formally on behalf of his company. He recalled with nostalgia that Mba was a bundle of talent who successfully localised pop music, by turning it to pop-highlife, thereby making it more relevant to those who love modern highlife.
From this slant, came hits like “Baby don’t cry”, “Funky situation”, “Making my way”, “Everlasting love” and “Money”.
Celebrated movie Producer and Director, Mathias Obayagbon, while mourning the departure of the musician, said that he did not know that his health challenges were that serious. However, he prayed for the repose of his soul.
