Arabic language is not our lingua franca. So, why use a foreign language and inscriptions that will require special interpretation on our instruments of state?
Why not use our official language and inscriptions in our official language if so necessary instead?
Recall that Alhaji Ribadu, our first republic Defence Minister, assigned the then young officer David Ejor, to do the job obviously, with terms of reference and he was pleasantly delighted at what Ejor and his team presented which was instantly approved.
Then, Nigeria wasn’t as religiously and ethnically polarized as we have it today.
The only reason our national anthem at Independence was changed to the present one was because it was composed by a foreigner even though it seems to make more sense than what we have now.
There was also the nationalization and indigenization of Multinational companies and other blue chip companies after the civil war.
So, what then justifies the continued retention of foreign insignia on our military apparatus and national life?
What even justifies the continued retention of the name of our Country Nigeria given the fact that the name of the country was coined by a foreigner?
It may thus be necessary now to revisit this issue and remove every foreign inscription in our instruments of state including our national currency as a sovereign country.
Let’s rediscover and revitalize our country.
