JUST IN: Chelsea sack Potter as manager after 2-0 home defeat by Aston Villa

Sacked Chelsea manager Graham Potter

Chelsea have sacked manager Graham Potter after less than seven months in charge following Saturday's 2-0 home defeat by Aston Villa.

Following another unsuccessful attempt to secure a victory at Stamford Bridge in the last few weeks, after a 2-2 draw with Everton, Potter has seen the pressure on his stay in west London mount significantly.

Six games in all competitions without a victory, stretching across January and February, handed co-owner Todd Boehly a major sacking decision. At that time, Potter was seemingly given a pivotal four days to keep his job with home clashes against Leeds and Borussia Dortmund on the horizon.

The Blues were able to win both games and thus allow Potter to breathe safely for at least another few weeks. However, further poor results has seen that pressure return, but Chelsea don't look to be acting instinctively by dismissing Potter. (Pieced together from online reports)
