Samuel Chukwueze of Villarreal CF
Nigerian winger, Samuel Chukwueze, has been nominated for the La Liga Player of the Month award for the month of March 2023, following top-notch performances for Villarreal in the Spanish topflight.
The Super Eagles forward who is currently in camp for Nigeria’s 2023 AFCON double-header qualifier against Guinea-Bissau, registered six assists of his side’s last seven goals in the league.
The 23-year-old’s nomination comes after he scored a volley to open the scoring in Villarreal’s 3-0 away victory at Osasuna last weekend, with the effort taking him to 11 goals for the Yellow Submarine this campaign.
He has also registered 11 assists for the club in all competitions. The former U-17 World Cup winner has been in terrific form in recent weeks.
And his contribution to Villarreal’s impressive season had helped the club climb up to sixth on the league table.
The Nigerian international will be up against Antoine Griezmann of Atletico Madrid, Barcelona’s Raphina, Real Sociedad’s David Silva among others for the award.
Villarreal’s next game is against Real Sociedad on April 2ndand Chukwueze will be looking to continue his fine form and help his team secure another vital victory. (The Guardian)
