Ex-NIMASA DG rearrested despite meeting bail conditions

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has rearrested Mr Patrick Akpobolokemi, the former Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA).

“He was rearrested outside the premises of the Federal High Court after Justice Ibrahim Buba adjourned his case till January 18, 2016 for the commencement of trial,” said a Channels TV report.

“This latest arrest is coming after the court already granted him bail in the sum of N50m. At the time of his arrest, he had already met the bail conditions and had just come to the court from home,” the report said.

It recalled that the trial of Mr Akpobolokemi was stalled at the court on Monday owing to request for adjournments by defence counsel.
