The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has announced the opening of nearby offices to business conglomerates to enable them have easy access to filing of ‘Tax Returns’ as at when due nationwide.
The new development is in accordance with the newly introduced segmentation policy where filing of tax returns by companies and organisations would be carried out in areas where they are located.
In a statement made available to journalists by the Office of the Special Assistant, Johannes Wojuola, and signed by the Executive Chairman, Mohammed Nami, FIRS urged all affected conglomerates to comply forthwith in the course of filing of tax returns.
The categories of taxpaying companies expected to file ‘Tax Returns’ to the service through the new ‘Segmentation Policy’ consist of Category A to E, in order of organizations.
The category A companies are those operating in the oil and gas sector while category B companies are considered by their size (for others not in Category A).
Category C are evaluated by Industry (irrespective of size) and category D consist of government businesses, while category 'E' is for non-residents companies.
The statement further explained that payments for all categories with sub-heads and commitment would be carried out in Lagos, Port Harcourt and Abuja, depending on nearness and its operations, while government offices at the federal and state levels will be implemented both at the federal ministries, departments and agencies, as well as state government offices across the states and local government areas in the country.
