Support Obiano to succeed —Peter Obi •Gives reason for quarrel

Immediate past governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, has urged the people of the state to give his successor, Chief Willie Obiano, all the support he needs to succeed.

Obi made the plea during an interaction with journalists this afternoon in Lagos. “I appeal to everyone to support the governor to succeed in the interest of Anambra State,” Obi, who handed over to Obiano on March 17 last year upon finishing his second four-year term, said.

Asked what led to the recent public spat between his camp and Obiano’s, the former governor blamed it on people’s penchant to compare his administration with the current one. “People should stop comparing me with Obiano. No two people have the same style; not even two people born of the same parents do things the same way. So, rather than comparing the two of us, people should support Obiano to succeed,” Obi said.

On the controversy surrounding how much he left for the Obiano administration, the former governor clarified that he never claimed to have left N75 billion cash. “What I have always said is cash and investments,” he said.

On the pro-Biafra protests sweeping through the South-East and parts of the South-South, Obi advised that the pro-Biafra activists should be engaged to prevent the situation from getting out of hand. He, however, advised the pro-Biafra activists, while enjoying their constitutionally guaranteed right to free speech and expression, to avoid blocking the Niger Bridge or disrupting economic activities aas doing so results in heavy economic losses while also inflicting suffering on innocent people.
