Rangers International Football Club of Enugu have secured the services of three new players to bolster their campaign in the second round of the 2022/2023 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
The club’s Media Officer, Norbert Okolie, told newsmen in Enugu on Monday that this was an indication the club was ready for the remainder of the season.
Okolie listed the new players as Austin Osayande, Leonard Ugochukwu and Chinecherem Ugwueze.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Rangers visit title-holders Rivers United FC in a rescheduled Group B Match Day 8 fixture on March 15.
The match is scheduled for the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt.
The media officer said the club were looking forward to the match and the players had joined others in training.
“They are all in high spirits to contribute their quota towards helping the club achieve their set target for the season,” he said.
Okolie added that Osayande joined from Dakkada FC, Ugochukwu joined from Akwa United, both of Uyo, and Ugwueze joined from Giant Brillars FC of Enugu.
He quoted the club’s Administrative Secretary, Ferdinand Ugwuarua, as having charged the players, during their unveiling in Enugu, to be up and doing.
“It is a thing of joy for us to have the three players join our ranks to help us achieve our set target for the season.
“With the approval of the coaching crew, we went for the players and it is our hope and belief they are coming with the needed skills.
“The determination is to help us achieve what we set out initially to achieve at the start of the season,” Ugwuarua had said.
NAN reports that Rangers occupy seventh place on the abridged NPFL Group B log with nine points while Rivers United occupy second position with 15 points after eight matches. (NAN)
