The Adamawa State Police Command yesterday alerted the public of a fresh plot by the Boko Haram terrorists to recruit new student members.
Police authority in the state said it has uncovered plots by some unscrupulous individuals who visit schools under the guise of being philanthropists distributing items such as sweets, date palm, sugar cane and coconut to pupils and students to initiate the students into Boko Haram.
A statement by the spokesman of the Command, DSP Othman Abubakar said: “The unscrupulous people do the gesture with a view to initiating the pupils into Boko Haram activities.”
The Command therefore appealed to parents, guardians and school authorities in the state to be vigilant in monitoring the activities of their children to prevent any breach of insecurity in the state and country at large.
