The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested eight persons for allegedly attacking Gov.Tanko Al-Makura on Dec. 5, during the funeral of Alhaji Mohammadu Yamusa II, the late Emir of Keffi.
The state Police Command Public Relation Officer, Ismaila Umar-Numan, stated this on Tuesday in Keffi in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
NAN recalls that some angry youths were alleged to have stoned the governor’s convoy and called him names during the late Emir’s burial.
“As I am talking to you, eight persons have been arrested over the attack on Gov.Tanko Al-Makura during the burial of the late Emir of Keffi, Alhaji Mohammadu Yamusa II on Friday.
“The police will continue to maintain law and order in the state considering the importance of peace to the socio-economic development of the state and the country at large.”
Umar-Numan said that the suspects were being investigated and called on the youths in the state not to take the law into their hands. (NAN)
