Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel, has said that he is working assiduously to make the state an investor’s haven by maximising the abundant economic resources to create wealth and generate employment.
The Governor stated this at Ibom International Airport while interacting with Government House Correspondents on his arrival from official engagement in Abuja.
He explained that his frequent trips outside the state is to scout for investors, sign Partnership Agreements and secure approvals for projects to be executed to facilitate the industrialisation programme of his administration.
Straight from his trip, Governor Emmanuel embarked on an inspection of the second Runway for cargo planes being executed by Gitto Construzioni Generali. He said that the Runway would be due for inauguration in the first week of July next year, and would serve as a perfect alternative in addressing emergencies.
The Governor described it as an asset capable of generating returns and enhancing the licence of cargo operations at the airport.
He stated that the quality of service and sincerity of purpose of the construction firm has propelled the payment plan to meet the expectations and expressed appreciation at the work progression. He explained that the International Terminal would be designed to meet standard specifications and that the technical partners to handle the Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) Unit would soon be assigned.
Mr. Emmanuel reiterated his administration’s resolve to strengthen the economic fortunes of the state. He announced the creation of a marketing and branding department, which he said would highlight the investment potentials and attract investors to the state. He assured that he would not rest on his oars but would continue to work hard to ensure that the vision of his divine mandate is actualised.
The Akwa Ibom Chief Executive sued for collaboration between the people and the security agencies to make the state habitable. He stated that 2016 will witness the influx of people to the state as more investors have indicated interest to open shops in Akwa Ibom and called on the people to keep faith with the administration as it cruises on an industrial revolution.
In his remarks, the project manager, Engr. Ghanem Rasbieh, appreciated the State Government for giving the company opportunity to showcase its expertise in the building of the Runway. He assured that the company would complete the project as stipulated in the contract.
