Bayelsa Polls Update: Returning Officers send distress message as thugs lay ambush

Collation of the results of yesterday’s Bayelsa Governorship Election has been completed in Ekeremor town of Ekeremor Local Government Area.

However, a report from the area says the Returning Officers and youth corpers who served as electoral agents in the area have sent a distress message following a security report indicating that suspected thugs working for one of the major political parties have laid ambush with the intention of hijacking the results.

A source said: “This is an appeal to all the security agencies to safeguard the lives of the corpers and the Returning Officers from this devious plan as well as draw the attention of the international community to this great threat to our emerging democracy. We appeal to all well meaning Nigerians to add their voices to the call for a free, credible, and safe election in Bayelsa State.”
