The Anambra State Government has joined in celebrating the recent elevation of Chika Okeke-Agulu, a leading academic of the Princeton University in the United States, as a distinguished Professor at Oxford University; England.

Professor Okeke-Agulu hails from Umuoji in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State.

A statement over the weekend by Governor Chukwuma Soludo, signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Christian Aburime, described the academician’s hard work, diligence, and perseverance as the driveway that propelled his global elevation, saying: “This underscores the present administration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s positive disposition to human resources development, projection of the ndi Anambra spirit of hard work, professionalism and excellence anywhere in the global space.”

“Professor Okeke-Agulu’s assumption of duties at the most respected university in the world is, therefore, an honour well deserved to himself, the African Continent, Nigeria, and Anambra State in particular. And the government and people of Anambra are proud of this honour.

“The promotion is also an attestation to the fact that hard work pays and well-deserving. Congratulations to the Anambra-born Chika Okeke-Agulu,” Soludo said.

Prof Okeke-Agulu, an alumnus of the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) is also the foremost African to hold this position since the chair was endowed in 1870.

Oxford is one of the oldest and most prestigious educational institutions in the world, established in 1096.
