Lagos Task Force warns residents on celebration of Christmas and New Year

The Chairman of the Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences (Task Force), SP Olubukola Abe, has warned members of the public, particularly street urchins, against organising Christmas and New Year carnivals that could cause fracas in order not to undermine the security of lives and properties of Lagosians.

SP Olubukola Abe stated this recently while reviewing the activities of the agency for the month of November and its plans for December 2015, adding that, officials of both the Task Force and Rapid Response Squad (RRS) are ready to maintain peace and security in the State during the forthcoming yuletide for a hitch free Christmas and New Year celebrations.

While commending Governor Akinwunmi Ambode for the various security equipment donated to the RRS, the Chairman made it clear that, government would not tolerate any street carnivals that could breach the peaceful atmosphere presently being enjoyed by residents, stressing that, anyone caught disturbing the peace before, during and after Christmas and New Year celebrations would be arrested and charged to court for prosecution.

He confirmed that, more that 1000 motorcyclists plying restricted routes across the State were arrested during the month of November 2015, while 852 were also arrested and charged to court for various environmental and traffic offences during the period under review.

SP Abe also disclosed that, officers and men of the Task Force have been deployed to strategic areas of the State for strict enforcement of the Lagos State Environmental Laws and the Lagos State Traffic Laws of 2012.
