Wife of the Senate President, Mrs Toyin Saraki, has expressed sadness over the passing on of the Otun Olubadan of Ibadan land, Chief Omowale Kuye, whom she described as a man of great accomplishment and integrity.
Mrs Saraki – who represented her husband, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki and her parents, Otunba Adekunle Ojora and Erelu Ojuolape Ojora – made the remark at the eighth-day fidau prayers for the late Kuye.
While thanking God for the legacies of the late Otun Olubadan, Mrs Saraki recalled his notable service to the country, which dates back to the time of Presidents Shehu Shagari and Olusegun Obasanjo. According to the Senate president’s wife, Kuye, through the years, had served diligently in the federal ministries of trade/industry and finance, before he was elevated to a director-general (Special Duties and later Budget) in the Presidency.
Mrs Saraki, a childhood friend of the Kuyes, commiserated with the immediate family of the deceased, the Ibadan Traditional Council, and government and people of Oyo State over the unfortunate incident. She enjoined the officiating clerics to offer prayers for the repose of the soul of the departed.
Also in attendance at the fidau prayers were the Oyo State Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi; Alhaji Aliko Dangote, former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Aloma Mukhtar;former governor of Oyo State, Senator Rashidi Ladoja; ex-Osun State Governor, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola; wife of Oyo State Governor, Mrs Florence Ajimobi and one time military administrator of Lagos State, Brig-Gen Raji Rasaki (rtd).
Others include former chief judge of Oyo State, Justice Nurudeen Adekola, former inspector-general of police, Mr Tafa Balogun, Chief Kola Daisi, Gen. I.B.M. Haruna (rtd) and Chairman, Kakanfo Inn and Conference Centre, Dr Lekan Are.
