Governor Theodore Orji of Abia State has taken his shopping bag for investors to the United States of America (USA) where he hopes to convince some Abians in the Diaspora to come home and invest.

Orji, currently on a working visit to US, told a large crowd of Abians resident in America during a town hall meeting in Houston that his administration was already creating a conducive investment climate through various projects, policies and programmes.

Chief spokesman for the governor, Mr. Ugochukwu Emezue, quotes  the governor as informing his audience that numerous projects being executed by his administration were tailored towards not just creating conducive environment for businesses and investments to thrive but also laying a solid foundation for the overall development of the state.

Orji listed such projects as the Diagnostic Centre, International Conference Centre (ICC), the new twin, three-storey secretariat complex, new Government House, many High Court buildings, ultra-modern Ubani Ibeku International Market and Industrial markets in Umuahia, amongst others.

Chief Orji further informed his distinguished audience that he has embarked on road projects in Aba and Umuahia, with a special emphasis on the problematic Ukwumango axis of Faulks Road for easy access to Ariaria International Market, Aba. He assured that he would continue to do more roads in Aba despite the lean resources available to him.

The governor also named as some of his greatest achievements, the liberation of Abia from the clutches of darkness and the restoration   of security having fought kidnapping to a standstill.

He said that with the high network of security in place, Abia was one of the safest states in Nigeria.

The Abia Chief Executive told his subjects in Diaspora that Abia was now a new mecca for investors, many of whom have indicated interest in doing business with the state and urged them to think home by channelling their resources back to Abia so as to contribute their quota to the transformation of the state.

For concrete and physical evidence, documentaries focusing on the development strides in Abia by the Orji administration were played for the audience.

After watching the documentaries, those who spoke commended Governor Orji for finding time to host the town hall meeting which has gone a long way in proving that Abia is working.

They urged him to remain focused despite financial constraints.

Last week, an Abia resident in Philadelphia, USA, had taken a full page advertorial to congratulate the governor for his exploits, particularly in the areas of security and road construction, stressing that he took time off to tour some of the projects and was quite impressed.

He promised to convey his findings to other Abians in the US and urged the people to support the governor and not just to criticise him when things were not going right.
