DEPOWA seeks IGP’s support

The Executive of the Defence and Police Officers Wives Association (DEPOWA) has solicited the support of Inspector-General of Police, IGP Solomon E. Arase, for its activities. It made the appeal during a recent familiarisation visit to IGP Arase at his Louis Edet House office, Abuja.

Speaking during the visit, DEPOWA President, Mrs. Omobolanle Olanisakin, said the visit was to intimate the IGP of their programme of action and to foster unity amongst wives of officers of the Defence and the Nigeria Police Force.

She used the occasion to enumerate the achievements of the association, some of which are the establishment of schools, library, ultra modern skill acquisition centre to assist in alleviating the suffering of the less privileged, while emphasising the exploits of the Inspector-General in the area of internal security, which according to her has given peace and tranquility to Nigerians.

Responding, IGP Arase thanked DEPOWA for the visit while commending them for their laudable projects, saying, it is a touch to lives.

IGP Arase further said the Police Management Team has an accommodating programme to assist widows and orphans of officers who paid the supreme price in the line of duty by providing them scholarship.
