The Imo State Government has constituted a Joint Taskforce Committee to checkmate all activities going on in various uncompleted buildings in and around the state, with a view to bringing to book any individual using the buildings as dens to perpetrate heinous acts. The committee has Prince Chidi Nwoke as Chairman.
Inaugurating the committee yesterday in Owerri on behalf of Governor Rochas Okorocha, Secretary to the Government of Imo State (SGI), Sir Jude Ejiogu, disclosed that State Government decided to set it up after having looked at several crimes experienced in the state as a result of the availability of uncompleted buildings to criminal-minded individuals who use them to perfect their antics. He expressed optimism that with the committee in place, every activity going on in any uncompleted building in the state would be monitored.
Sir Ejiogu charged the committee to work assiduously and collectively to effectively carry out its assignment. He advised the committee members, among them made up officials of the Nigerian Immigration Service, not to compromise with any person no matter whose ox is gored in the execution of their functions.
Responding, committee chairman, Prince Chidi Nwoke, thanked the State Government for finding them worthy to serve. He assured of their readiness to fight head-on in ensuring that the hoodlums using the uncompleted buildings were fished out.
Adding her voice, Assistant Comptroller of Immigration in charge of investigations in Imo State, Mrs. R.O. Iwuorisa, promised that they will do their best to get rid of hooligans for the betterment of the state.
