Umahi mourns Aja-Nwachukwu

Ebonyi State Governor, Engr. Dave Umahi, has described one-time minister of education, Igwe Aja-Nwachukwu, who died November 17 at an Israeli hospital, as an illustrious son of Ebonyi who contributed in no small measure to the development of Nigeria.

“As a Minister of Education, he left a footprint on the nation’s education sector. As the Pro-Chancellor of the Ebonyi State University and an erudite scholar, he brought the education sector in our state to enviable height,” Governor Umahi said yesterday in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary Emma Anya.

“We are saddened that he died at this stage of our growth as a state,” Governor Umahi said. He prayed for God to give the Aja-Nwachukwu family the fortitude to bear the loss.

Aja-Nwachukwu, who was Education Minister from July 26, 2007 – December 17, 2008, died at age 63.
